Hi Louise, I have extremly fond memories of your dad at Halton Middle School. He taught me between 1979-81 ish. I remember he had a wicked sense of humour as well as being an excellent maths teacher. I was saddened to hear of his passing, but at the same time heartened that you have managed to get the book published. I look forwards to reading it. Take care samantha '
Of course I remember him, I was in his form class at one point. He was a great teacher and I only have good memories of him, you knew where you stood with him and he always had the kids respect.
I was in some of the plays he did - I was Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz and I remember him making Dawn Dean's tin man outfit from cardboard and tinfoil (will post a picture). He just sat at the front of class and made it while we were working. Another thing he used to do was make things out of paper while we were working, it was funny because half the time we were more interested in what he was making than the task at hand!!! LOL
My brother was in the cross country team and he supported and encouraged him really well. Unfortuantely I'm no runner so he got me involved by doing car park duty! But still got me involved nevertheless and I enjoyed it really.
I do remember going to the ice rink at Bradford too - I'd totally forgotten about that.
I'm really sorry to hear that he has passed and my heart felt sympathies go to you and your family Louise, well done on continuing your dad's work with his book and good luck with it, x.
I was only at Halton for a little while before he left, but i knew about him from my brothers Will and Phil Northam and my sister Jackie. All had great stories about him. They all loved having him as a teacher. He still seems to be a good memory for them all when they 'recap' on old days!
All the best!
My name is Kevin Gregg I went to Garforth Comp from 1977 to 1982. Your dad was a very good teacher .
